May’s Roundup

Not sure about you guys but I think May has felt like quite a long month with two bank holidays.

The industry has been booming with lots of new exciting and informative information and concepts.

Awareness month

The past month has focused on mental health awareness week from the 10th to the 16th and also stroke awareness across the entire month, these awareness months can be a great key focus for businesses such as yourselves to implement into your social calendar. Perhaps you have a treatment that supports people that have suffered from strokes or you could be like university Hospital of Coventry and Warwickshire set aside some time for your staff to look after themselves for mental health awareness week by hosting an event that looks like a meditation session, a little massage, an afternoon of team building and treatment swapping.

Did your businesses do anything to highlight these awareness months? Were you aware of what months it was to highlight?

May was also the month for aesthetic medicine live at the Olympia London on Friday the 9th and Saturday the 10th. If you weren’t able to make that no worries because we’re gonna go through a little bit about what did happen who was there and how it went.

So the doors open on Friday to your VIP guests at 10 am, I believe with cutera being the main sponsor of the event how they were many different exhibitions available to see this year from Dermapen, skinpen, Circadia, Morpheus 8, CACI, 3-D Lipo, Dermalux and derma logical just to name a few.

Alongside exhibitioner that there were also quite a few talks going on throughout the day discussing the like of menopause, none invasive treatments but what I found most interesting was a lot of of the stands this year had their own personal speakers “KOLs”. Really working to highlight on why they’re offerings are so important to the industry and how they can really help businesses stand out which I think is important to have quite strong brand reputation when looking to invest in new technology and treatments you want it to be backed by industry leaders and key speakers that hold a large presence within the industry or even have used the device or products themselves and implemented it well. Doing this gives you the customer a unique chance to speak with these people rather than just seeing their opinion online being able to ask questions in person and have a legitimate conversation can really be an eye-opener when looking to take the plunge and invest sometimes heavily in equipment.

All of this being said even though it was a fantastic event it was on the quieter side. Not sure whether that had to do with Ace having been a few weeks earlier or that the weather was extremely nice that weekend so people didn’t want to spend it inside and I’d rather have been at the pub, on a walk or just spending time with their loved ones .

But if you are looking to invest in something new and sometimes feel overwhelmed by the large setting of trade shows such as professional beauty and CCR which are held at the Excel maybe next year look at attending aesthetic medicine for a more intimate personalised feel.

There is no complicated instructions for your client to follow simply just do your evening skincare routine of cleansing after cleansing apply the triple acid peel then go on with serums and moisturisers and simply go to bed cleaning off with water in the morning and then continue in as normal with your routine.

Now I’m sure you’re thinking, how does this fit into my business if it’s a retail product?

If you stock hydro peptide great! It’s something that you can now retail to your clients regularly knowing their skin is gonna look exceptional from this but if not no worries this product is something that can be used in conjunction with other treatment when prepping for an event as it is a light exfoliation working to gently resurface the skin. Think of it as an assist to a larger treatment package over a short period of time that you could create for an event working on all elements of skin health this is just gonna give them that appearance they want to see sooner.

New Tech

RRP £750

We’ve got something new! CACI beauty have been around for a really long time most of us have heard of them if you’ve not little backstory they are specialist in microcurrent working on muscle tone, skin appearance with a device that has many different modalities available all from one hub.

Not everybody has the space for a device that goes on the trolley, you might need the surface space, hey you might even be new to introducing facials and not want to make such a large commitment so early on.

This month it seems Caci have bought out a handheld microcurrent device small enough to fit in a pocket that you can offer hands-on microcurrent facials from which is one of their signature treatments called micro touch. This uses a glove attachment opposed to their traditional probes allowing the pressure from the hands of the therapist to lift and tone the muscles of your clients face creating a more youthful rejuvenated appearance. Not only that it also doubles as a hand rejuvenation treatment and can perform something they call enhanced tissue repair to treat superficial fine lines and wrinkles, inflammation and pigmentation.

It’s definitely giving little and mighty.

Now from what we have researched although you aren’t going to get the same results as you would from a large Caci device this is ideal for a mobile therapist, somebody starting out that wants to offer a well-known brand and looking to move into more skin wellness or those spa settings That have multiple rooms and it just wouldn’t be feasible to house a large device in everyone. This little device offers nine treatment settings so you are able to work your client up to withstanding higher levels of current over a course of treatment.

All of this is such a small price tag we definitely say it’s worth seeing where this would fit in your business.

For best efficiency with LED good practices to make sure the lights are off so that none of the energy is being absorbed by other energies in the room.

Skin has peak efficiency which is different in everyone so it doesn’t necessarily mean that the longer you use the LED for the better of the result this could actually have the opposite effect.

Surgeon Georgio Christopoulos noted that he has noticed that clients these days one quick turnover no downtime to look natural and gone of the days where people wanted exaggerated features and they do want to look more like like themselves just better.

Dr Pablo Naranjo spoke of a paper that was published years ago in Spain about the efficacy of increasing the improvement when micro needling if using LED prior and post treatment whether it’s just one or 2 to create more activation of the cells.
